Free things to do in Hackney for families

Springfield Park

 

During the school holidays, children always have loads of energy. Burn that off with a kids day out to Springfield Park. The open fields offer lots of space to run around in, plus a children’s play area. If you’re looking for sporty things to do in Hackney, Springfield Park also offers an athletics track, tennis courts and more.

Clissold Park

 

The beautiful Clissold Park offers a host of activities for days out with kids. A paddling pool is open in the summer (see times below), plus there is a large playground and sports facilities. Nature-loving youngsters can see goats and deer in the animal enclosure or head to the aviary.

Active things to do in Hackney for families

Hackney Marsh Adventure Playground

 

If you’re looking for active things to do in Hackney for families, check out Hackney Marsh Adventure Playground.  There are thrilling rope swings, climbing frames and slides for youngsters to explore. A team of trained playworkers are on hand to keep everything safe, making your kids day out a breeze.

London Fields Lido

 

Days out with kids can sometimes leave you feeling hot and bothered. Cool off with a trip to London Fields Lido. The outdoor heated pool offers lane swimming throughout the day with lessons also available. Facilities include a cafe, sun terrace, changing rooms and lockers.

Cultural things to do in Hackney for families

Museum of Childhood

 

Expand your children’s minds with a trip to the V&A Museum of Childhood. This museum offers the largest collection of dolls in the UK and plenty of exhibits around some family-favourite toys. Head to the Must Have Toys collection to trace the gaming fads from 1900 until now. Fully explore the museum with a free family backpack, which includes a map, activity suggestions and more.

Hackney City Farm

 

If you want a day out with kids to pet some animals but without leaving the city, head to Hackney City Farm for a chance to learn about food, nature and the environment. The delightful inner-city farm is home to a host cute creatures including donkeys, pigs, goats and sheep. It also offers family activities including a Mini Farmers Club every Sunday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm for those who want to learn more about the animals.
